When to seek help

When to see a physiotherapist

Early assessment and the right exercises can help reduce pain, improve movement and prevent the problem from coming back.

You should see a physiotherapist if:

  • You have been diagnosed with a neurological condition
  • Walking, balance or daily tasks are getting harder
  • You have had falls
  • Fatigue limits what you can do
  • You want a long-term plan to stay active

Seek urgent medical care if you:

  • Sudden new weakness, numbness or loss of vision
  • A sudden, severe headache
  • A seizure
  • Rapidly worsening difficulty swallowing or breathing

If you have any of these, call Rescue 1122 or go to your nearest emergency department — don’t wait for a physiotherapy appointment.
